It is with sad heart I must announce that Henry has lost his battle with cancer.
Consequently te Sligte Gardens will be undergoing some changes this year.
The images on the site will be a little out of date but are still a good representation of what is still available for sale. The 2013 price lists are update with the hosta list partially complete.

Henry and I have appreciated everyone’s support and company through the years. We’re glad to have decorated so many gardens but this will be the last year for te Sligte Gardens while decisions are being made on the gardens.

Please come by to our gardens in this spring and summer with a pre-arranged appointment.

Welcome to our Gardens in 2013

Come and browse our four acres of gardens with varying arrays of blooming irises, daylilies and hostas. We are designated by American Hemerocallis Society, as an official daylily display garden. Included are over 35 colourful gardens from full sun to shaded areas throughout our yard.

Our gardens have been expanding over the years to display over five hundred named daylily cultivars, three hundred colourful iris and over five hundred hostas. There are also numerous perennial companion plants throughout the gardens. To add to our variety we have several rows of daylily seedlings, some of which are being evaluated for potential future introductions.

Ring Around Rosy-1

At te Sligte Gardens you will find hostas starting to emerge as the tulips are at their full bloom with dwarf irises adding to the colours of spring. As the dwarf iris and tulips start to wind down the tall bearded iris start to open.

These are followed shortly thereafter by early blooming daylilies. By mid July the gardens are a mass of colour as the daylily season comes into full bloom. Late season daylily cultivars maintain the colour as reblooming iris return for a finale, of their show for the season. The fall colour of the hosta and heuchera leaves finish the season before frost puts the gardens to rest for another season.
